TEDx PICK OF THE WEEK

Rick recently did a TEDx talk, about getting young people to vote, at the Houses of Parliament. The global editor of TEDx has made the talk one of his picks of the week (also featured – a clarinet made out of a carrot). What a sweetheart. http://tedxtalks.ted.com/ Click here to watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlYpMGI6iNQ/

BURGER VAN CHAMPION

Rick wrote a short film about a girl who works in a burger van. It is on telly tonight. Feel free to watch and lavish it/him with praise/offers of further writing work. Some reviewers have been very generous already, look: http://www.timeout.com/london/tv-reviews/coming-up-burger-van-champion http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/5602956/TV-highlights.html http://www.radiotimes.com/episode/ckq6zg/coming-up–episode-2-burger-van-champion “Burger Van Champion” Channel 4 11.05pm Monday 8th July

FREE SPEECH

Rick has a new job. He will be hosting Free Speech on BBC3 from February 13th. Free Speech is, in essence, Question Time for young people so Rick is, in essence, David Dimbleby for young people. Below is a link to the press release, in which an important man describes Rick as ‘a great talent’. Very nice. http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2013/free-speech.html

TOOL ACADEMY SERIES 3

TOOL ACADEMY SERIES 3

Tool Academy is back for a third series. How do the producers keep duping goons into thinking that they are competing on ‘Britain’s Laddiest Lad 2012′ or whatever it is? We will never know. ‘Dr’ Sandra Scott is back and she means business. The logo is now black and yellow. The whole thing is set in Spain. Imagine that. Tuesday nights at 10pm on E4 from 23rd October. http://http://www.e4.com/toolacademy/

PARALYMPIC GAMES BREAKFAST SHOW

For the duration of the Games, Rick will be presenting a daily Paralympic breakfast show with Kelly Cates (her dad’s famous). It is very exciting indeed. Rick wrote a piece in the Evening Standard about his involvement. He is going to bed very early. Night night. http://www.standard.co.uk/olympics/paralympics/this-will-be-the-highlight-of-my-career-8083787.html http://paralympics.channel4.com/

GAMES ON

GAMES ON

Rick has written ‘GAMES ON’, a mini-series for the BBC. They are online now. One is called ‘TENT’, but the other two are called ‘CURBY’ and ‘XXXL’. Intriguing. Please enjoy them, or at least pretend to. TENT Part 1: http://http://bit.ly/gamesontent1 TENT Part 2: http://http://bit.ly/gamesontent2 XXXL Part 1: http://http://bit.ly/gamesonxxxl1 XXXL Part 2: http://http://bit.ly/gamesonxxxl2 CURBY Part 1: http://http://bit.ly/gamesoncurby1 CURBY Part 2: http://http://bit.ly/gamesoncurby2

Rick turns his back on Ade. It's not for the first time, and it won't be for the last time.

THE PARALYMPIC GAMES

Slightly later than suggested in a previous post, That Paralympic Show is back with its fourth series at 1.20pm on Saturday 5th May. And things are getting serious. In other related news, Rick has been confirmed as one of the main anchors of C4’s groundbreaking coverage of the Paralympics. Here is a painfully low res picture of Rick standing next to Jon Snow. Although Jon Snow wasn’t actually there. So it turns out, the camera does occasionally lie. http://www.channel4.com/programmes/that-paralympic-show/

WRITING-BY-RICK

Rick Edwards: two legs good

If you rule out jeans, there’s still a world of trouser options to choose from, including cords, twill and BJBs…I’m not really working at the moment. I keep telling myself that this is fine; this is just how it is for a freelance TV present…

Rick and Michael are in high spirits after a particularly lively 'KISS TIME' in Daegu Stadium.

BACK ON TV (briefly)

Rick will be presenting the Aviva Indoor Trials & UK Championships LIVE from Sheffield on Sunday afternoon. Because it’s LIVE, and Rick hasn’t done much presenting of late, there is every chance that it will be a bit shaky. However, Rick is looking forward to it, and has a had a haircut especially. http://www.channel4.com/programmes/indoor-athletics-2012

VOTE FOR RICK

Think of all the British and Irish men you know. Then think about their clothes. Now for the hard bit – does Rick Edwards have the nicest clothes? Out of all of them? Very unlikely. Nevertheless, you can vote for him in GQ’s Best-Dressed 2012 poll. http://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/style/articles/2011-12/08/gq-best-dressed-list-stylish-men/rick-edwards
